Nationally-unique program further strengthens Nashville’s position as health care capital
Following an intensive, five-month period of rigorous coursework and engaged dialogue, theNashville Health Care Council today announced the commencement of its 2014 Council Fellows class.
“As the industry continues to face unprecedented challenges, the Fellows program equips the next generation of leaders to navigate the high-stakes demands transforming health care,” said former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, M.D., and co-director of the Council Fellows. “I firmly believe that the collaboration we need to create meaningful change is starting with the Fellows initiative, and I am confident that the health care industry will be made stronger and better by this annual experience.”
The Fellows initiative is co-directed by Senator Frist and Larry Van Horn, associate professor of economics and management and executive director of health affairs at Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management. The effort brings together senior industry executives to explore solutions to meet the challenges facing the U.S. health care system in years ahead.
The annual program, now in its second year, engages industry leaders to better implement business strategies, create value, drive industry growth and effect change. Through eight, daylong sessions, the class completed a rigorous curriculum that featured nationally renowned speakers in leadership, health care, economics and business strategies. The class format leveraged the power of discussion and the exchange of ideas, as well as industry immersion activities and small-group leadership training and development.

Recruiting the 2015 Class of Fellows
The 2015 Fellows will bring together the next class of senior leaders with demonstrated potential to drive the industry forward.
Recruitment will begin in September 2014. All applications will require information and statements of interest by the applicants, as well as letters of recommendation from each applicant’s superior. The 2015 class will be selected by the Council Fellows Advisory Committeeand announced in December 2014.
